About

Watermark Art Center will hold an open house July 12 from 5 to 7pm for artist Sue Rauschenfels at the opening of her exhibit “For the Love of Trees”.

Her paintings are created from the heart and rooted, grown and developed from a childhood spent exploring outdoor play in the woods while building strong lifelong relationships with her 6 sisters and neighborhood friends.

Her rendering of this new trees series, using vibrant color, mark making, textural elements of collage and mixed media to tell their story, is her way of honoring and thanking them for their gifts by impacting people positively socially, mentally, which supports healthy human interaction. Much of her work depicts trees in a row, together standing tall. She sees trees as a metaphor for the need for people to stand together, heal and deepen relationships in order to protect communities and sustain healthy social human connections.

There is no charge for this event. Watermark’s galleries and gift shop will be open and are accessible, free and open to the public. Regular hours are Mondays – Saturdays from 10 to 5pm. Visit WatermarkArtCenter.org for detailed exhibit, event and class information. 505 Bemidji Avenue N., Bemidji, Minnesota. Call 218-444-7570.

This exhibit was made possible in part by the Arrowhead Regional Arts Council through an Individual Artist Project Grant FY24 and by the voters of Minnesota through a grant from Arrowhead Regional Arts Council thanks to appropriations from the Minnesota State Legislature’s general and arts and cultural heritage funds.
