Walk on the Wild Side: Fungi are Fun!

About

Join us for an exciting opportunity to learn from Jonathan Schilling, a fungi expert who is the Director of the University of Minnesota’s Itasca Biological Station!
Jonathan will lead our group on an easy, guided hike around the Neilson Spearhead Center nature preserve, where he will use fungi growing on site as learning opportunities to discuss this fascinating aspect of the ecosystem that is so often underappreciated.
Note: Jonathan recommended our Boreal Book club September read “Entangled Life”, by Merlin Sheldrake. If you care to join, you can read the book in advance and stay after our Walk on the Wild Side event to discuss the book.
Please come dressed for the weather, with appropriate close-toed shoes for hiking on moderate terrain (some slopes and roots). A water bottle is also recommended.
