Learn How to Protect Your Treasured Items at “Saving Your Stuff” Workshop

The Beltrami County Historical Society, in collaboration with the North Beltrami Heritage Center, is pleased to present “Saving Your Stuff: How to Care for Art, Heirlooms, and Personal Collections.” This free and informative workshop will take place on Friday, September 20 at noon at the Beltrami County History Center, located at 130 Minnesota Ave. SW, downtown Bemidji.

The workshop will provide invaluable insights into the “ten agents of deterioration” and offer practical tips on how to preserve and protect your most valued possessions. Whether you’re a collector, an artist, or someone with cherished family heirlooms, this event will help you learn the best practices for ensuring that your items stand the test of time.

The event will begin with a comprehensive presentation followed by an open question and answer period, giving attendees the opportunity to address their specific concerns. Attendees will also receive recommendations on how to access additional resources for continued learning.

About the Presenter: Megan Brakob Narvey, the Outreach Conservator at the Minnesota Historical Society, will lead the workshop. Megan brings a wealth of experience in conservation, having previously worked as an Objects Conservator at the Western Archaeological Conservation Center in Tucson, Arizona, and as the Objects Conservation Fellow at the Canadian Conservation Institute in Ottawa, Ontario. She holds a BA in chemistry from Carleton College, along with an MA in Principles of Conservation and an MSc in Conservation for Archaeology and Museums from University College London. Megan is passionate about guiding individuals and organizations in the proper care and maintenance of their collections across Minnesota.
