Capturing Your Memories: February Workshop at the Beltrami County History Center

The second monthly session of Capturing Your Memories is scheduled for Tuesday, February 11, at 11:00 a.m. at the Beltrami County History Center. Led by writer and historian Sue Bruns, this engaging workshop series is designed to help participants capture and preserve their life stories through memoir writing.

Everyone is welcome to attend, whether they participated in the January session or not. The February workshop will focus on pre-writing techniques to get ideas down quickly before structuring them into sentences and paragraphs. Participants can also share their writing and receive feedback from fellow memoirists.

Attendees are encouraged to bring any writing they’ve finished since the last session. Additionally, participants should look through old photos and bring along ones that inspire memories and stories. A guided writing exercise will incorporate these images to help bring personal history to life.

The session will begin with a free-write exercise inspired by February and Valentine’s Day. Participants should think about a special person or relationship and bring photographs of meaningful people. Those who wish to complete the exercise in advance are welcome to bring their writing to share.
