About
Kids ages 8-15 come on out for an afternoon of ice fishing on Lake Bemidji! During Take-A-Kid Ice Fishing Weekend, anglers 18 and older do not need a fishing license if they are accompanied by a child younger than 16 and are actively participating in the Take-A-Kid Ice Fishing Weekend.
All equipment will be provided including heated ice shelters. Dress for the weather in warm layers. Wear snow boots with warm socks, a winter hat, thick mittens or gloves, snow pants and a winter jacket.
Children must be accompanied by an adult. The program will be canceled if the temperature is 0°F (or below 0°F with wind chill).
We will meet in the Visitor Center for the first portion of the program and then will go out on the lake to give ice fishing a try.
This program is free, but a Minnesota State Park permit is required for all vehicles entering the park. A daily permit is $7 and an annual is $35.See previous description.
