With the area snow fall we have recently received the trails in the area have 8-9 inches of fresh snow and the groomers have been out. Reports from the groomers and the local trail riders are saying that all the trails are in excellent condition through out the area.

Lake Bemidji State Park – Tracks are excellent and were groomed Tuesday, 2/2/10

16km, Double Classical Tracks, Easy/Interm

Hobson Forest Trail –groomed 1/29/10, some debris on trail but tracks are very good.

7km, Double Classical Tracks, Easy/Interm

Montebello Trail  - Planned grooming before the weekend. Skiing is very good.

Skate Lane & Classical Track, 2km lighted, Easy

Sons of Norway BARNELOPET** children’s race on Sunday 2/07 at 1:15 – bibs, medals and food for young skiers 3-14 yrs old. 

Three Island County Park – Excellent conditions in both skating and classical – new West loop off of the Red trail at the south end.  New loop will be tracked as soon as the snow sets up (by this weekend hopefully), skating is good now.

20+km, Skate Lane & Classical Track, Easy/Interm

Movil Maze Trail Skiing is very good to excellent.

14km, Skate Lane & Classical Track, Interm/Expert

Buena Vista – West side in excellent condition, both classical and skating.  East side – work in progress.  East is dragged and skiable but no track has been set.

25km, Skate Lane & Classical Track, Interm/Expert

Fern Lake Trail- Groomed on Friday 1/29/10.
Classical, new skating track included.  From Bemidji, south on Hwy 71, turn right on N Lake Plantagenet Rd and drive north for about     3 ˝ miles.  Welle Dr is across from the groomer’s access point, no legal parking, next access is for snowmobiles and third access is the XC Trailhead
with parking.  Clockwise – up the one BIG hill, counterclockwise – down the BIG hill. 

 

Bemidji High School Trail – Conditions are good to excellent. Updated access info:  from town, pass through stoplights for BHS and turn left at hockey arena entrance.  Curve left behind BHS to BIG white propane tank and maintenance outbuilding.  Park in plowed area and ski.

 

·         ** Barnelopet Children’s Ski Race sponsored by the Sons of Norway – FEBRUARY 7TH, SUNDAY, MIDDLE SCHOOL, 1:15, ages 3-14.  Children ski free with household Bemidji Ski Club membership.  Ski bibs and medals donated by the Sons of Norway; food and drink donated by the Bemidji XC Ski Club. (Barnelopet skiers needn’t have been in Sunday Ski School).  Parents invited to ski with younger participants.

Rain followed by wet snow fell on Saturday-Monday. Trees and brush are coated in ice. USE CAUTION: Numerous
trees are bent over trails due to weight of ice/snow. Broken branches and limbs on trails due to weight of ice/snow. Crews are clearing trees/branches/limbs but use caution.
All trails groomed and in good condition otherwise

MN SKI PASS

A Snowmobile State Trail sticker is required for all persons
 operating a snowmobile on state or grant-in-aid trails. 
The annual trail sticker is valid from November 1 - April 30 
and costs $16 ($15 permit fee plus $1 filing fee).  
A $31 three-year sticker will be available beginning 
October 1, 2005.  The three-year permit can only be 
purchased in conjunction with a registration.  Anyone 
stopped by enforcement and found operating on a state 
or grant-in-aid trail without a sticker will be required to
purchase a $31 annual sticker. 
($30 permit fee plus $1 filing fee.) 
Available at businesses hosting Electronic Licensing.

Skiers 16 & over must have MN Ski Pass to ski trails.  
$5 Day Pass 
(available at most State Parks)
